The third part in the Krrish trilogy, a story that started with Koi Mil Gaya in 2003 and continued with Krrish in 2006. Both films did outstanding business and were box-office blockbusters.
Directed by Rakesh Roshan, one of Hindi film industry's most successful directors, work on Krrish 3 started way back in 2007. Unhappy with how the script had shaped up, Rakesh Roshan re-wrote the entire script and announced that the film would go on floors in December 2011.
The casting process wasn't as smooth as expected. Apart from Hrithik Roshan as Krrish and Priyanka Chopra as his lady-love, the search was on for the film's antagonists. Vivek Oberoi bagged the biggest role of his career, when he was signed as the film's main villain.
As for the lady reprising the role of a mutant, it was Chitrangada Singh who first agreed to be a part of the film Unfortunately due to date issues and rumors of Chitrangada not being too happy with the character offered to her, she was replaced by Jacqueline Fernandes. That move didn't work out either, as Jacqueline too opted out.
Finally though, the very talented Kangna Ranaut was signed. Model turned actor Shaurya Chauhan too was signed to play one of the negative characters.
The music, like every other Filmkraft production, will be composed by Rajesh Roshan. Salim-Salaiman head the background score department.
Rights: Unconfirmed reports suggest that the Satellite rights were acquired by Sony and the music rights were purchased by T-Series for Rs 6 crore.
December 1st 2011: The shooting for Krrish 3 finally began, without Hrithik Roshan who was nursing a back injury. There were reports that Hrithik was actively involved and was seen assisting his father on the sets.
Update by @Krrish3themovie on Twitter (29th February 2012): Hrithik would be completing the film's first schedule in Hyderabad within 20 days and would then return back to Mumbai to start working on its second schedule. Hrithik would then shift his film's locations to exotic places (Switzerland) where the entire unit of film would shoot for the love scenes and songs. The actor has pre-planned everything about the film and is hoping that he wraps up the shoot by July after which Hrithik would get busy with his father, filmmaker Rakesh Roshan on post-production.
Krrish 3 is expected to hit screens during Diwali next year (November 2013).

Current status: The cast is dubbing for the film. Shahrukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment will do the Visual Effects for Krrish 3.
